Tobias Fischer is a digital marketing business owner who has worked with companies across Asia, Europe, and the United States for more than 10 years. Over time, the U.S. became the main base of his professional connections, leading him to look for a way to stay and continue building his career there.
After researching different visa options, Tobias decided to pursue the O-1A visa for extraordinary ability in business. He initially worked with another law firm, but after receiving an RFE and becoming dissatisfied with the experience, he turned to Tukki to take a different approach.
With the guidance of immigration attorney Dobrina Ustun and a strategy focused on stronger evidence, Tobias ultimately obtained his O-1A visa.
Q: Why did you decide to pursue an O-1A visa?
T: I've been running a digital marketing business for over 10 years, which has allowed me to work with companies around the world, including in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. Over time, the U.S. became the main base of my professional connections. I wanted to find a way to stay in the country and formally obtain a visa that would allow me to continue building my career there.
"It naturally developed as a priority for me to seek a way to stay and formalize getting a proper visa." — Tobias Fischer
Q: How was your experience getting a visa?
T: At the end of 2025, I decided to pursue the O-1 visa after doing substantial research and having several consultations. I chose the O-1A visa for extraordinary ability in business. I initially worked with another law firm for about seven months, but I wasn't happy with the experience. The attorneys assigned to my case weren't truly experienced with this specific type of O-1A case, which led to substantial delays.
Eventually, my case resulted in an RFE because certain criteria needed additional evidence and support. Through that experience, I learned how important specific experience with this visa really is.
"I learned what it really takes to succeed pursuing that visa, which is mostly the experience of doing it over and over again." — Tobias Fischer
Q: How did you hear about Tukki?
T: I became active on Reddit, where there's a community of people pursuing different types of visas. Ramiro, the founder of Tukki, was also active there and was sharing valuable insights about my situation. What I appreciated was that he wasn't taking a salesy or pushy approach. He was genuinely providing value without expecting anything in return, which made me curious to learn more. At the time, I was comparing Tukki with three or four other immigration law firms.
"He genuinely approached me with a position of just providing value without expecting anything in return." — Tobias Fischer
Q: What should someone look for in a law firm?
T: You only really find out once you start working with the attorney. In my case, I had the best feeling about Dobrina Ustun because of her hands-on experience. I asked her difficult questions early on, including how many O-1A cases she had handled in the previous 12 months and how many of those had succeeded.
"These are questions that I should have asked prior to signing up with the initial law firm." — Tobias Fischer
Q: What made the difference in your case?
T: Looking back, I feel that Dobrina's approach made the difference. She was able to look at the reality of my situation, including how much evidence I had and the RFE I received. Instead of trying to appeal every single decision, she made a strategic decision to pull back some of the weaker evidence and replace it with other evidence that was more convincing. That took some courage and experience.
"A minimized but stronger approach is what just made it much more easier for us to handle and more convincing." — Tobias Fischer
Q: How did you feel when your O-1A was approved?
T: Honestly, I couldn't believe it. I was so happy and shocked to see it after more than eight months. I checked every day, and then one day I opened the case and saw that it had been approved. It was unreal. Even then, I was still nervous until I had my passport back in my hands.
"Only once you have that passport back in your hand, I realized this really happened." — Tobias Fischer
Q: Anything else you'd like to share?
T: Ramiro is genuinely a really pleasant person to work with. He's genuinely interested in helping his clients get their visas and succeed. With everyone involved in the process, having someone who is genuinely interested in you succeeding still matters for many reasons.
"Having someone who is genuinely interested in you succeeding is still very important." — Tobias Fischer
